Benefits of Walking on the Beach Barefoot

Benefits of Walking on Dewey BeachWalking barefoot on the beach is relaxing and romantic, but did you know it’s also good for you?

Here are some of the benefits of walking on the beach barefoot:

You’ll get stronger

Sand provides resistance that strengthens your arches, ankles and leg muscles. Your foot will be going through its full range of motion, and every time your foot sinks into the sand, your muscles have to work extra hard to push you back up and move you forward.

And you’ll burn more calories

In addition to the muscular benefits, the resistance that comes from walking on sand will burn more calories. So, go ahead and order that seafood dinner!

It’s a free foot massage!

Walking barefoot on sand and taking breaks while standing in the water will massage the soles of your feet. The motion activates venous and lymphatic circulation, making your feet feel nice and relaxed.

The sand will exfoliate your feet

No need for a fancy foot scrub. Walking on sand will exfoliate dead skin cells and make your feet feel softer.

You’ll reduce your stress

There’s nothing more relaxing than strolling near the water and listening to the sounds of the ocean. Leave the shoes at home to symbolize leaving your cares behind.

A few beach walking tips

  • Move your hands as you walk to help avoid swelling.
  • Walk first thing in the morning or in the evening to avoid sun burn and heat stroke.
  • Get yourself a walking buddy if you are interested in walking more. Having somebody with you is motivation.
  • Apply sunscreen before heading out. And always carry a bottle of water and wear a hat. Remember even if it’s cloudy, you can still get sunburned. And reapply sunscreen often – particularly if you’ve been walking in the sea.

Taking a daily beach walk especially is one or two miles is a fantastic way to stay healthy. Combine that with fresh coastal air and do a batch of press-ups on the way along the beach and you’ll stay as fit as a fiddle 🙂

Walking on the beach as others stated is so relaxing. I live in Ohio and there are no close beaches, but every time I’m on vacation I go to a beach and walk a mile or further each morning Bc it relieves stress it’s beautiful to look at, it’s spiritual and the connection there there from the sun, sand, and sea ❤️

My friend Bruno should check out these great tips! He’s scared of walks on the beach. I’m not sure if it’s just the long, unyielding expanse of sand and sun, or a general fear of water, but maybe these will help him come around to your perspectives.
