Over 100 teams are expected to participate in this exciting summer event, held on August 1, 2015. Registration takes place the morning of the event and spectators are welcome to come watch the fun, free of charge.

Bring the kids and kick off this weekend in the sand with a sculpting demonstration by artist Darrell O’Connor on Friday, July 31. The demonstration will take place on the beach at Rehoboth Avenue and the Boardwalk from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is a great chance to learn some sculpting tricks and tips before entering in the contest on Saturday!

The sculpting contest will take place until 3 p.m. on Saturday and is a fun opportunity for the whole family to get creative on the beach. For those not interested in entering their own sculpture, a community sculpture will be under construction from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.! Join O’Connor once again to help create this piece of sand art.

Contest registration takes place on the day of the contest from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Fisherman’s Beach (the north end of Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk) and judging will begin at 3 p.m. Registration categories are as follows: Business, Adult (age 15+), Children (age 7-14) and Child (age 6 and under). Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult when entering their sculpture.

Winners will be announced around 5 p.m. and prizes will be awarded! All participants in the child (6 and under) division will win a special prize and the top 10 Judge’s Favorites will be awarded prizes in the adult and children (7-14) divisions. Two People’s Choice Awards will be given out this year as well, so be sure to vote for your favorites from the adult and child divisions!
