Meet Rashell Thompson
At Atlantic View Hotel
When did you start working at Atlantic View hotel and what attracted you to the position?
RT: I started at Atlantic View in August of 2020 in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic. Atlantic View was an attractive option to me because Jason is such a great manager who was willing to work with my scheduling needs. Seaboard Hotels also really cares about the staff. And the location is perfect!
I also love meeting new people from all over. We meet guests from a lot of different cities from various states. It warms my heart when returning guests remember me. I love Atlantic View Hotel and my managers here. They really care about their employees.
Where and when did your career in hospitality start?
RT: I started my hospitality career in 2019 at Quality Inn Rehoboth.
What is the toughest part of your job right now?
RT: I don’t see myself as a morning person so waking up early for the day shift was tough at first. Now, I think the toughest part of my job is the stairs. I help to inspect rooms and I often have to assist guests with their televisions and that means I am up and down the stairs since we don’t have an elevator. I definitely get a lot of exercise at work!
What has been your greatest success thus far in your career?
RT: Feeling appreciated and getting a promotion to Front Desk Manager after only one season of employment with the company.
What was your fondest memory of a customer?
RT: My fondest memory is not of any one guest. I get excited when we have repeat guests and they remember who I am! That makes me smile and feel good.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
RT: I have a young daughter and she loves the outdoors. Much of my spare time is spent bonding with her. We go to the beach, get ice cream and play in the parks.
What is one thing very few people know about you?
RT: I am very talkative, but extremely shy.
Who do you admire, or look up to, and why?
RT: I admire and look up to my mother. She sacrifices so much for myself and my daughter and has taught me what it means to have unconditional love. I just appreciate everything she does for me and my daughter.
