Don’t you just love fall festivals? We certainly do and lucky for us, there is always something to experience in this area of Delaware. One event in particular that most people around here are pretty excited for is the Delaware Wine and Beer Festival, which is now in its fifth year. It’s so great that in those five short years, it has already garnered plenty of recognition. In fact, the festival was just named as one of the “2014 Top 100 Events in the US” by the American Bus Association!
With the theme of “Drink Local, Eat Local, Buy Local,” festival goers will be exposed to some of Delaware’s greatest wineries, breweries and distilleries – something that you won’t see all at once at any other festival in Delaware. If you’re wondering how the “Eat Local” portion of this event has anything to do with wine, craft-beer and spirits, you’re in for a treat because this is where it gets really interesting.
Instead of just serving up some great local delicacies and calling it a day, this particular festival has a number of select eateries using the wine and beer as a special ingredient to cook up delicious seafood and barbeque dishes, as well as some pretty tasty desserts with an extra kick. So bring your lawn chairs and blankets, grab yourself a beverage of your choice and some food and relax to the sounds of some great live music.
The 2014 Delaware Wine and Beer Festival will take place on Saturday, October 11th from noon until 5p.m. at the Delaware Agricultural Museum & Village in Dover. Tickets will include 10 sampling tickets and can be purchased in advance for $25 or at the door for $35. If you plan to be the designated driver for your party, $10 will get you into the event but keep in mind that you will not be able to purchase any alcohol with this ticket.
If you plan to visit Delaware for more than just the day, this festival would be a great day trip for those who plan to stay with us here in Dewey Beach! Don’t miss out on the best that our state has to offer!
